PROF. DR. AMRAN AHMED
CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF GOVERNANCE
Professor Dr. Amran Ahmed hails from Pulau Pinang though he was Kedah born. He had his Primary and Secondary education in Pulau Pinang and his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Sains Malaysia. He proceeded to obtain his Master of Sains from the University Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1987 and his Ph.D in the fiel of Medical Statistics in 1993 from the prestigious Hiroshima University, Japan. Throughout his career, the contributions he made in the field of science and mathematics has been duly recognised at the national and international level. His outstanding locally received awards would include Best Lecturer Award in 2002 from the University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Best Service Award in 2002 and Best Quality Award in 2003. He was also a Silver Medalist at International Exhibitions of Innovations in Geneva 2004.
He was also conferred the Sabah State Royal Award Ahli Setia Darjah Kinabalu (ASDK) which carries the title of Dato’.
He had a very successful career life which centres around the University life. He rose from being a part-time Tutor to the level of Deputy Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Academic and International Affairs Division in 2009 at the UMS, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International) in 2012 at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin his highest achievement of his career.
